Do you need an OnlyFans agency? What creator agencies really cost – and what you can do yourself
Creator agencies often take 20–50 % on top of the platform's cut. What agencies actually do, the red flags in their contracts, and how to get the same results while keeping your income.

If you've had any success as a creator, you've probably had the DMs: "We can 10x your earnings. We manage top creators. Let's hop on a call." Creator agencies (often called OnlyFans agencies or OFM agencies) promise growth, marketing and someone to handle your chat while you focus on content.
Some deliver. Many don't. And almost all of them are expensive. This guide explains what agencies do, what they cost, the red flags to watch for, and how you can get much of the same value yourself.
Full disclosure: we're SHEDANX, a creator platform, not an agency. We think creators should keep as much of their income as possible – so we're biased toward doing it yourself. We've tried to keep the facts straight anyway.
What creator agencies actually do
Most agencies offer some mix of:
- Chatting – hired "chatters" reply to your fans in your name, often around the clock, and sell paid messages.
- Marketing – running or growing your social accounts, Reddit posting, shoutouts and paid promotion.
- Strategy – content planning, pricing and posting schedules.
- Account management – uploading content, scheduling posts and mass messages.
What agencies cost
Agencies usually take a percentage of your earnings. According to industry pricing guides, typical commissions range from about 20 % to 50 %, depending on the services:
| Service level | Typical commission |
|---|---|
| Chatting only | ~20–30 % |
| Chatting + marketing | ~30–45 % |
| Full management | ~40–50 % |
The important part is what that percentage is calculated on. The platform already takes its cut. If your platform takes 20 % and your agency takes 30 % of your gross earnings, you keep 50 cents of every euro a fan spends.
Here's what that looks like on €5,000 a month in fan spending:
| Setup | Platform cut | Agency cut | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80/20 platform + 40 % agency (on gross) | €1,000 | €2,000 | €2,000 |
| 80/20 platform + 30 % agency (on gross) | €1,000 | €1,500 | €2,500 |
| 80/20 platform, no agency | €1,000 | – | €4,000 |
| SHEDANX founder (90/10), no agency | €500 | – | €4,500 |
Example before taxes and payment fees.
An agency has to more than double your earnings just for you to break even. Some can. Most can't sustain it.
Red flags in agency contracts
If you're talking to an agency, watch out for:
- They want your login. An agency with full access to your account can lock you out, change your payout details or message fans in ways you never approved.
- Payouts go to them first. You should be paid directly by the platform. If the agency collects the money and "passes on" your share, you lose control.
- Long lock-in periods with high exit fees.
- Commission on gross, not net – without saying so clearly.
- They own your content or accounts. Some contracts claim rights to your photos, your social accounts or even your stage name.
- Guaranteed income promises. Nobody can guarantee what fans will spend.
- Pressure to sign fast. A good partner gives you time to read the contract – and to have someone else read it.
The chatter problem
Chatting is the most profitable service agencies offer – and the most problematic. Fans pay for a personal connection with you. When they find out they've been talking to a hired chatter (often working from a script, sometimes in another country), many feel deceived.
Before handing over your chat, ask yourself whether you'd be comfortable if your fans knew – and check your platform's terms on who is allowed to operate your account.
What you can do yourself
Most of what agencies sell, you can do with good habits and the right tools.
Growth and marketing
- Pick two or three social platforms and post consistently instead of everywhere at once.
- Build a clear link-in-bio funnel from your posts to your profile.
- Learn the rules of Instagram and TikTok so you don't lose your accounts.
- Choose a platform that brings you new fans. On SHEDANX, the For You feed and Discover put you in front of fans who are already on the platform.
Chat and sales
- Use mass messages for new content – to all followers or only subscribers, skipping fans who already have the file.
- Keep a mix of free and paid messages, as covered in our chat guide.
- Use your media vault to see who received and paid for each file, instead of spreadsheets.
Pricing and strategy
- Build a price ladder with something for every type of fan – see our pricing framework.
- Look at your numbers once a week: what sold, what didn't, when your fans are active.
Help when you need it
If you just need help with one thing – editing videos, a photographer, a tax adviser – hire for that task, at a fixed price, instead of giving away a share of everything forever.
When an agency might make sense
To be fair: some creators do well with agencies. It can make sense if you already earn a lot, have no time for marketing at all, and find a transparent agency that:
- never takes your login or your payouts,
- charges on net, with a short notice period,
- doesn't claim rights to your content or accounts,
- is open with fans about who's chatting.
If an agency ticks all those boxes and can show real, verifiable results, it may be worth a conversation.
The SHEDANX approach
We built SHEDANX so creators need agencies less:
- A bigger share from the start: 85/15, or 90/10 for life as a founder.
- Reach built in: the For You feed and Discover bring new fans from inside the platform.
- Tools that do the busywork: mass messages, a media vault with per-file stats, live streams with seat limits, shop, VIP sets and auctions.
- Payouts straight to your bank account – every transaction traceable in your statement.
- A real team in Berlin that answers your questions – founders get priority support.
Frequently asked questions
How much do OnlyFans agencies take?
Industry pricing guides put typical agency commissions between about 20 % and 50 % of earnings, depending on the services. That comes on top of the platform's own cut, which is 20 % on OnlyFans.
Is an OnlyFans agency worth it?
Only if it increases your earnings by much more than it takes – often more than double – and the contract is fair. Many creators get better results by keeping control and using good tools and habits.
Should I give an agency my account login?
It's a major risk. With your login, an agency can change payout details, message fans in your name or lock you out. Payouts should always go directly from the platform to you.
What can I do instead of hiring an agency?
Post consistently on a few social platforms, build a link-in-bio funnel, use mass messages and paid messages wisely, price with a ladder, and choose a platform with a fair split and built-in discovery – like SHEDANX.
